The FSO Polonez is a motor vehicle that was developed in Poland in collaboration with Fiat and produced by Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych from 1978 to 2002. It was based on the Polski Fiat 125p platform with a new hatchback design by Zbigniew Watson, Walter de Silva and Giorgetto Giugiaro. [2]

Polski Fiat 125p is a motor vehicle manufactured between 1967 and 1991 in Poland under a Fiat license by the state-owned manufacturer Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych (FSO). It was a simplified and altered variation of the original, Italian-made Fiat 125, with engines and mechanicals from the Fiat 1300/1500.

The pre World War 2 brand Polski Fiat was revived to sell the vehicles. The 125p got the older Fiat 1300/1500 interior but wasn't totally bereft of modern features. Unlike the Fiat 125, the 125p featured disc brakes, a repositioned (and therefore safer) fuel tank and also offered buyers the choice of an estate and pick up variant.

Built from 1967 through 1991 by FSO under license, the Polski Fiat 125p was derived from the Fiat 1300/1500 line. The Polski Fiat 125 used the 1300-1500's pushrod polyspheric combustion chamber engine, rather than the Italian version's twin-cam, credited to Aurelio Lampredi.. But I do remember seeing a brochure of Polski Fiat 125P - the one with red Fiat on the cover, and to me it looked quite nice for late 70's.
