The oil pumps are different and there is a fitting in the block of the S&S engine by the oil pump that is not on the stock Harley engine, not the vent fitting, it's lower below the motor mount. There are two fittings on the top of the S&S pump. The Harley pump has two fitting as well, one is on the bottom, and the other is in the face of the pump.

An additional 25% increase can be achieved on engines manufactured between 1939 and 1972 if optional S&S pinion and oil pump drive-shaft gears with 4:1 ratio are installed with S&S pump.
